LONDONDERRY - A Nashua man is being held on $50,000 cash bail after police said he robbed Citizens Bank in Londonderry, then stopped for a cocktail at a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Hudson police arrested Jason Enwright, 38, Tuesday about an hour after the 4 p.m. bank robbery.

"He apparently ran out of gas after leaving the bank, so he went into the restaurant to ask people for a ride," Londonderry Police Lt. Kevin Cavallaro said. "Then, he continued to drink."

Police said no weapon was shown during the robbery, though they say one was "implied." The robber left the bank in a white SUV with around $1,500 in cash after passing the teller a note demanding money.

Londonderry and Derry police responded, along with the State Police K-9 Unit. About an hour later, a restaurant employee at Café Teresa - about two miles from the bank near the Hudson town line - called police after a scruffy and possibly intoxicated man entered the lounge and began approaching other customers.

Enwright was seen by several witnesses carrying "wads of cash" and his car appeared to have sustained heavy damage in the front end area, Cavallaro said. He said he'd hit a deer earlier that afternoon.

Police located Enwright's damaged white Chevy Suburban in the parking lot behind the restaurant; it matched the description of the SUV given by witnesses of the bank robbery, said Cavallaro.

"This all seems so hard to believe. He's definitely not criminal of the year," Cavallaro said. "He pretty much wrapped himself up in a bow for us."

Enwright faces charges of robbery, theft, resisting arrest, civil assault and two counts of criminal threatening after he reportedly argued with officers attempting to arrest him. They said he spit at and threatened three police officers at Parkland Medical Center later that evening.

According to court documents, Enwright has had multiple run-ins with the law over the years, including previous arrests on charges of assault, receiving stolen property, larceny and theft by deception.

Bail was set at $50,000 cash, with his bench warrant bail set at $500 cash. Enwright is scheduled to appear in 9th Circuit Court, Merrimack District Division, Dec. 13.
