Moultonborough session set for final charette team report
The report, "Moultonborough Village Charrette: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow," is the product of months of work shaped by the nonprofit Plan NH and coordinated by consultant Roger C. Hawk, president of Hawk Planning Resources LLC in Concord.
The planning board and heritage commission will host the meeting to be held Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Moultonborough Library Event Room. The library is at 4 Holland St.
Moultonborough Town Planner Bruce Woodruff said an executive summary was not yet available, but anticipated a thorough PowerPoint presentation with drawings at the forum.
The charrette included two listening sessions July 20 and 21 with the Plan NH team that included planners, engineers, architects and transportation specialists who worked with the community to examine the present and future uses of the village center and its potential for revitalization. Between 70 and 80 residents participated in the summer sessions.
Woodruff described the final report as "a big huge monster file, 22 megabytes. It's impressive."
He said Hawk and a couple of team members will be on hand Dec. 17 to explain the report to planning board and heritage commission members, as well as the public.
The report includes illustrations and maps of what the village could look like, potential roadway or streetscape changes and landscaping.
Woodruff said the Plan NH team would field questions following the presentation.
Once presented, the town could select from a number of courses of action. Woodruff said the planning board could vote whether to accept the report as an addendum to the town's master plan. The board could discuss how the report will be used. He added the report is a "best guess for the future" of the town conducted through fresh eyes by professionals who don't reside in town.
"The planning board will have to accept the report first. Once they do, it can be used as a baseline," he said.
