CLAREMONT - City officials lifted a boil water order issued Tuesday after E. coli was discovered in the city's water system.

The order was lifted at 10:30 a.m. Friday after the problem was corrected, according to city officials.

Residents were told to boil tap water for at least two minutes and then allow it to cool before drinking or using it.

As expected, city officials lifted the order today.

The harmful bacteria was detected Tuesday. E.coli can result in serious illness and even death and is especially harmful to infants and young children, as well as the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.
