Matt Bonner loves his Pontiac Grand Prix, but it might be time for a minivan. The nine-year NBA veteran, wife Nadia and daughter Evangeline-Vesper have been adjusting to a family of four since the arrival of August David Ali Bonner. The healthy 7-pound, 5-ounce boy was born in August.

The Spurs returned home from a 10-day road trip, defeating Memphis, Milwaukee and Houston last week. Bonner has netted at least one 3-pointer in four straight games and leads the NBA with a 52-percent success rate from behind the arc. This week, we gave the Red Rocket some rapid-fire questions before the Spurs took on Houston.

Sunday News: What have you been doing to occupy yourself on the homestand?

Matt Bonner: Changing diapers.

SN: How long did it take you to recover from that road trip?

MB: About 30 seconds. Returning home from the East Coast is easy. It's coming from the West Coast that really screws up your sleep patterns.

SN: Do you still carry $2 bills for tipping purposes?

MB: With inflation and the devaluation of the dollar, it only makes sense.

SN: December is Seasonal Depression Awareness Month. How are you coping so far?

MB: Right now it's 80 degrees and sunny outside.

SN: Have you ever thought about waving your index finger like Dikembe Mutombo after hitting a 3-pointer? That could be your new thing.

MB: I prefer to do that after I swat a shot into the third row. So basically never.

SN: Do you have a sneaker deal yet?

MB: No. Sometimes I feel like I should be on the island for misfit toys.

SN: Do you ever buy a pack of NBA trading cards to see if you're inside?

MB: No.

SN: One of your rookie cards recently sold for $15 on eBay. Is this a good sign or bad sign for the economy?

MB: I don't know what that says about the economy, but I congratulate the vendor for getting a 3,000-percent markup for it.

SN: Why do you wear No. 15?

MB: I wore it for some random reason in college, and it just stuck.

SN: What is mutton bustin'?

MB: I might be the only Spurs player who knows this. Isn't it when you take a kid, and they grab onto a pig, and they smack the pig in the butt, and he has to hold on?

SN: What's on your iPod?

MB: Some Arcade Fire. I love the new Springsteen album. Deer Tick, The Antlers and you can't go wrong with some old-school Okkervil River.

SN: What is Frito Pie?

MB: I have no idea. I'm guessing a bunch of Frito chips mixed in with some chili.

SN: Have you ever asked an NBA player for his autograph?

MB: I never have for myself. The only player I wouldn't hesitate to ask, should I ever see him, would be Larry Bird. I was always Larry Bird in the driveway when I was a kid.

SN: Have you ever asked anyone for an autograph?

MB: Yes, I have gotten Gene Keady and John Wooden to sign their respective books for me. Also, I got Kevin Gray to sign his Millrats jersey, which I have framed and hanging in my living room above the fireplace for all to admire.
