Shaheen to serve on Appropriations
"I'm honored to be chosen to serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee," Shaheen, a Democrat, said in a statement. "It's important to have a New Hampshire seat at the table to make sure spending decisions are made wisely and in the interests of Granite State taxpayers."
Shaheen's appointment restores New Hampshire's place at the Appropriations Committee. Former U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., served on the committee from 1995 through 2010.
Shaheen will leave the Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee, but will retain her seats on the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Senate Armed Services and Senate Foreign Relations committees. The full Senate must approve Shaheen's appointment.
