The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team led most of the way but Boston College scored late when it needed to and came away with a 61-59 win in overtime Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass. UNH is 4-6 while BC is 5-5.

The Wildcats scored seven of the first nine points of overtime, taking a 59-54 lead. Lonnie Jackson and Olivier Hanlan hit back-to-back three's to give the Eagles a 60-59 advantage with 51 seconds remaining.

UNH turned the ball over on its next possession and the teams exchanged missed shots. Eagle Ryan Anderson was able to convert one of two free throws for Boston College to make it a 61-59 lead.

Patrick Konan attempted a three-pointer as time expired but was not able to convert it.

Ferg Myrick was 8-for-17 from the floor and had 21 points and eight rebounds for UNH. Anderson paced the BC side with 23 points and 19 rebounds. Hanlan finished with 10 points.

UNH led by as many as 13 in the second half but a key 12-0 run by Boston College cut the Wildcat lead to 47-46 with 6:11 remaining.

Chris Pelcher and Chandler Rhoads each contributed 10 points to the UNH effort.

The teams went back-and-forth to start the contest with the Eagles holding an 11-9 advantage at the 14:18 mark. From there, the Wildcats went to the paint and scored three unanswered baskets including a Myrick reverse layup that made it, 15-11. New Hampshire eventually held a 31-23 lead at halftime.

UNH shot 38.7 percent (24-62) from the floor and 21.1 percent (4-19) from long range. BC shot 35.4 percent (23-65) from the field and 9.1 percent (2-22) from downtown. BC won the rebound battle, 47-40.
