Shea-Porter appointed to House Armed Services Committee
U.S. Rep.-elect Carol Shea-Porter has been appointed to her third term on the House Armed Services Committee, her office said Thursday.
Shea-Porter will retain her seniority on the panel despite her absence from the House over the past two years.
"This is a challenging time for our nation's military as we work to adapt to new threats and challenges around the globe, and to deal with difficult budget realities here at home," Shea-Porter said in a statement.
"We must provide every necessary resource to service members, their families, and our veterans. Their sacrifice has made America great, and it will truly be a privilege to continue to serve them on this committee."
Shea-Porter said she will also resume work with the New Hampshire and Maine delegations to ensure that the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard "remains a vital component of our nation's defense infrastructure."
