Stewart recognized for work with YMCA

MANCHESTER - Edward Stewart Jr. of the Shaheen & Gordon law firm was recognized with the Chairman's Award at the YMCA of Greater Manchester's annual meeting for his extensive volunteer work as the co-chair of the Y's annual wine tasting benefit. Stewart has served as co-chair of this fundraising event since its inception in 2007. It raises nearly $40,000 each year for the Y's annual Reach Out for Youth and Families Campaign, which supports financial assistance for youth and families to access YMCA programs and services, while providing funding for the Y's Youth Opportunities Unlimited programs.

Normand promoted after accreditation

MANCHESTER - David Normand has been named operations manager at Total Solutions Property management after attaining his accredited residential manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Normand joined Total Solutions Property Management in September 2009 as a leasing assistant and has steadily traversed through the business.

Shaker Style's Barlow wins Best in Show

HARRISVILLE - KL Communications and Rockler Woodworking announced that Stephen Barlow of Shaker Style in Harrisville is the recipient of the 17th annual Providence Fine Furnishings Show, Best in Show Award.

A panel of New England area industry professionals reviewed over 60 exhibitors to select the finalists. Shaker Style received the Best in Show Award in the Traditional Furniture category.

Unitil names duo to board of directors

HAMPTON - Unitil announced that its board of directors elected Lisa Crutchfield and David Whiteley to the board.

Both Crutchfield and Whiteley will stand for election to the board by the shareholders of the company at the next annual meeting of shareholders, which will be held in April 2013.

Crutchfield served as executive vice president of regulation and pricing for National Grid from 2008 to 2011.

Whiteley has been the owner of a private consulting firm, Whiteley BPS Planning Ventures, specializing utility planning, operations, and management, since 2009.

McLane law group honors paralegal

MANCHESTER - The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton gave the firm's annual John A. Graf Client Service Award to Sharon Laurendeau.

The award is provided annually to the McLane attorney, paralegal or staff member who exemplifies the highest level of client responsiveness and excellence in service based on colleague observation, peer reviews, and client recommendations and commendations.

While Laurendeau, a paralegal, assists attorneys in the firm's Commercial Lending/Real Estate practice group, she also helps with some of the firm's more important and complicated litigation matters, trusts and estates, and corporate transactions.

McLane attorney can practice law in Maine

The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton announced that Barry Needleman was admitted to practice in the state of Maine.

Recently singled out by Best Lawyers in America as Concord's "2013 Environmental Lawyer of the Year," Needleman works developing energy projects. He also regularly handles environmental matters for regional and national clients involving permitting, compliance counseling, auditing, and defense of administrative and judicial enforcement actions.

Boucher honored for work in Lebanon

MANCHESTER - Citizens Bank and WMUR named Paul Boucher the "Heart of Your City" for his outstanding commitment to the city of Lebanon. Boucher is in his 14th year as the president and CEO of the Greater Lebanon Chamber of Commerce. Boucher serves on the board of overseers for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and the Grafton County Economic Development Council board.

Trio named to UNH-Manchester board

MANCHESTER - Ali Rafieymehr, dean of UNH's campus in Manchester, announced the appointment this month of three new members to the college's Advisory Board. New members include William Hill, program manager III at BAE Systems; Lowell Mower, alumnus and federal work-study coordinator at UNH-Manchester; and Ryan Pitts, student at UNH-Manchester.

Hill has been recognized with several bronze Chairmen's Awards for his teams' contributions to major program successes.

Mower, a 2012 graduate, had his research published in UNH's undergraduate journal, Inquiry. His research interests have focused on the origins of American political ideology and their role in the American Revolution.

Pitts enlisted in the Army after high school and served six years, including two years in Italy and two tours in Afghanistan. He has been a student at UNH-Manchester since 2009, where he has been a peer-assistant leader, writing and business tutor, student representative on the UNH-Manchester Dean Search Committee, and is currently a member of UNH-Manchester's Enactus team.

Naturopathic doctors name award winner

BEDFORD - The New Hampshire Association of Naturopathic Doctors announced its first recipient of the Naturopathic Doctor of the Year Award, Dr. Pamela Herring, who was honored for outstanding service to patients, community and the profession. Herring was instrumental in distinguishing naturopathic doctors as licensed health care providers in New Hampshire more than 18 years ago.

Herring was a charter member for the New Hampshire Public Health Association and served on the state Advisory Council on Osteoporosis.
