MANCHESTER - The Union Leader Santa Fund counts on regular donors, and one of the most faithful is Bonneville & Son Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and used car dealership.

Owner Edward A. Bonneville is continuing the family business' longtime support of the New Hampshire Union Leader Santa Fund for the Salvation Army.

"We do a lot for charitable organizations," said Bonneville. "But the Santa Fund is special."

Bonneville appreciates that every penny contributed to the Santa Fund goes to help families in need have a happy Christmas, with presents for the children and a festive meal for all.

Many of the families who seek assistance from the Santa Fund at Christmas are working families who have experienced a job layoff, an unexpected medical bill or some other sudden expense that wipes out funds set aside for Christmas gifts and special holiday foods.

Bonneville, the third-generation owner of Bonneville & Son, said the business was the first auto dealership in Manchester to step up and support the Santa Fund years ago, and it is continuing the tradition now as the only auto dealership to do so.

"We were the first, and we've stuck with it," he said.

This year, Bonneville & Son is making a donation for every car, new or used, purchased between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. "It's a percentage of all sales," Bonneville said.

The company, family-owned for more than 50 years, is always happy to support the Santa Fund.

"There is never a question in my mind about making a donation when it comes to the Santa Fund," he said.

The region's largest Chrysler dealership, at 625 Hooksett Road, Bonneville & Son has been a Five Star Award winner for the past 10 years, putting the company in the top 10 percent of the nation's dealers in terms of customer sales and satisfaction.

Bonneville's Dodge/Jeep dealership on the Daniel Webster Highway in Manchester features a 12-car showroom and 24 service bays to ensure fast, ASE-certified service and repairs.

The generosity of Santa Fund donors makes it possible for the holidays to still be a joyful time. The Santa Fund makes food, clothing and gifts available during the holiday season, so financially stressed families can put their resources toward paying bills for basic needs.

Santa Fund donations may be made by sending a check to the Union Leader Santa Fund, in care of the New Hampshire Union Leader, P.O. Box 9555, Manchester 03108; or by placing a donation in the Santa Fund box in the lobby of the newspaper, at 100 William Loeb Drive, Manchester, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Every effort is made to promptly publish Santa Fund contributions. Donors who wish to see their contributions listed before Christmas are encouraged to submit them as soon as possible. The Union Leader publishes photos of donors of $1,000 or more.
