H.S. Tournament Roundup: Bow, Merrimack Valley to final

A strong second half pushed the Bow girls to a 45-31 win over Bishop Brady of Concord in Capital Area Holiday Tournament play at NHTI Saturday.

Bow outscored Brady 32-16 in the second half and will meet Merrimack Valley (a 54-33 winner over Hopkinton) in the championship game at noon Sunday at NHTI.

Suzanne Barry scored a game-high 12 points to lead Bow and Lindsey Nerbonne (nine points) and Ashlie Tucker (eight points) chipped in. Taylor Ong scored 10 for Brady.

Nashua North Holiday Tournament

Milford 43, Nashua South24: Dina Pitsas scored 18 points to lead Milford and surpass 1,000 points in her career. Sarah Voorhis scored nine for South.

Capital Area Holiday Tournament

Merrimack Valley 54, Hopkinton 33: The Pride used a balanced scoring attack to move past Hopkinton and into the championship round of the tournament against Bow.

Mary Mullen scored nine points and Jordan Filion, Rebekka Donovan and Jordan Neylon all scored eight. Brittany Marshall scored 13 points to lead Hopkinton.

Concord 56, Kearsarge 15: Janessa Luciano nearly outscored Kearsarge of North Sutton herself as she poured in 13 points to lead the way for Concord in consolation play. Anna Cahill scored eight for Kearsarge.

Pembroke 46, John Stark 21: Marissa Kibbee scored a game-high 15 points to lead the way for Pembroke in consolation round action. John Stark got seven points from Rebecca Titcomb.

Epping Holiday Classic

Derryfield 25, Haverhill, Mass. 24: At Epping, for the second straight game, freshman Rachel Larrivee's successful free throw with 2.3 seconds to play lifted the Cougars to its second tournament victory.

Concord 53, Hopkinton 46: Kaleb Marquis scored 16 points and Walter Szulc added 13 to lead Concord to Sunday's 2:30 championship game against Pembroke at NHTI in Concord. Liam McNicholas scored 16 points and Steve Auger added 15 for Hopkinton.

Pembroke 52, Bow 32: Pembroke junior Pat Welch scored 24 points, including his 1,000th career point to lead the way and push his team to today's 2:30 p.m. championship game against Concord. Matt Persons added 16 points for Pembroke. Colby Desmaris scored nine for Bow.

Merrimack Valley 71, Kearsarge 26: Adam Presutti scored 14 points and Andrew Alicea added 13 in the MV attack in consolation round play. Trent Noordsij and Carter Noordsij scored six points each for Kearsarge of North Sutton.

Bishop Brady 47, John Stark 46: Jourdain Bell went coast-to-coast and scored with one second remaining to push Concord's Bishop Brady to the win in consolation round play. Bell finished with 19 points. Nicolas Lloyd scored 19 for John Stark of Weare.

Girls' ice hockey

Hanover 6, Bishop Brady-Trinity 0: At Concord, unbeaten Hanover received goals from six different players and goalies Kelly Gaudet and Katie Fenton combined to make 16 saves and register the shutout in regular season action at the Everett Arena.
