Bald elected to board at First Colebrook
COLEBROOK - George Bald has been elected to the First Colebrook Bank's board of directors.
Bald is the former Commissioner for the state Department of Resources and Economic Development.
He previously served as the executive director of the Pease Development Authority, the city manager for Rochester, and as mayor of Somersworth.
WMUR hires new weeknights anchor
MANCHESTER -WMUR-TV has hired a new anchor for the station's 10 p.m. newscast on MeTV New Hampshire and the 11 p.m. newscast. Shelley Walcott will join Tom Griffith weeknights on the anchor desk starting next month. She replaces Tiffany Eddy who left WMUR in October to start her own business.
Walcott comes to New Hampshire from Milwaukee, where she presently anchors the NBC affiliate WTMJ's weekend 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts.
Walcott's first day on-air at WMUR will be Jan. 14.
Comcast names senior vice president
MANCHESTER - Jeff Buzzelli has been named senior vice president of business services for Comcast Corp.'s Northeast division.
He will be responsible for developing, facilitating and implementing strategies aimed at growing Comcast Business Class across 14 states from Maine through Virginia and the District of Columbia.
He spent the past four years as vice president of business services for Comcast's Greater Chicago Region, where he nearly tripled revenue while also expanding the company's mid-market and enterprise presence.
CPA firm promotes Kim to member
MANCHESTER - Howe, Riley & Howe PLLC, certified public accountants, has promoted Kyung Kim to member of the firm.
She joined Howe, Riley & Howe in 1995, and became a manager with the firm in 2007.
Kyung will be responsible for overseeing the audit, accounting, tax and consulting services provided to a variety of clients, including entities involved in manufacturing, healthcare and restaurants, as well as employee benefit plans and not-for- profit organizations.
She will also be involved in administration and strategic planning for the firm.
Amherst man noted for long service
AMHERST - Northwestern Mutual, the Northern New England Financial Group, is celebrating its 125th anniversary of doing business in New Hampshire.
As part of the celebration, Scott Christensen, managing partner for the Northern New England Financial Group, is being honored for 22 years of service, eight of them in New England.
Christensen began his Northwestern Mutual career in 1990 in the Chicago area and in 2004 became managing partner for the New England Region.
Optima's Estes named banker of the year
PORTSMOUTH - Carol Estes, vice president and commercial loan officer at Optima Bank & Trust, has been named New Hampshire's Small Business Administration's 504 "Banker of the Year" for the second time in three years by the Granite State Development Corp.
"Carol secured over $1.5 million in SBA 504 financing for our customers," said Steve Aldrich, senior vice president of GSDC.
"This represents about $5 million in projects that will grow businesses and create jobs in our state."

MANCHESTER - Trish Chandler, R.N., has joined the LSS In-Home Care Program as the clinical care coordinator.
Chandler will enhance LSS In-Home Care's ability to provide quality training to care staff and assist with client care. She was previous administrator and clinical director at Trinity Home Care in Manchester.
New account exec at Harvard Pilgrim
MANCHESTER - Derek J. Gardner joins Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare as an account executive working with mid- to large client groups.
He has more than 12 years of experience in the insurance industry, joining Harvard Pilgrim from Nationwide Insurance, where he worked in sales and retention.
