GILFORD - Mark Corry says he's glad the selectmen have agreed to revisit the administrative fees imposed per residence in the town's sewer billing system.
But he'll believe it when he sees it, he says.
Corry came before the board of selectmen last week, representing the Gilford Meadows Condominium Association. The board was in the process of passing a new sewer rate increase from $5.73 to $5.99 per 1,000 gallons, which included a drop in the town's administrative fee from $17.55 to $14.60 per quarter.
However, Corry complained that the administrative fee should be changed, as it unfairly charges his condominium association for each of its 40 residences. The association only has one sewer meter, he said.
"They are charging us 39 times more in administration fees than they should be," Corry said.
Under the new fees, the condominium will pay $58 a year per unit in administration fees, or about $2,300 in total.
"And they just dropped the fees, so we have been paying a lot more than that," Corry said.
On Friday, Town Administrator Scott Dunn said the selectmen have agreed to look at the administrative fee structure given the complaint from Corry and his condominium association.
Corry said he will be contacting other condominium associations to see how they deal with such matters.
He is hopeful that the selectmen will follow through on their promise to look into the situation, he said.
"This is third time we've been in front of them, and them saying they're going to look into it is kind of placating us," he said. "We have no problem paying usage fees and an administrative fee, but we're paying 40 fees right now."
