2 women accused of stealing cash, credit cards
SALEM - Police arrested two women accused of stealing cash and two credit cards from a home, making off with roughly $1,800 in withdrawals and purchases before being apprehended.
Police were called to a home at 25 Millville Circle on Monday at about 8:55 a.m. A homeowner reported that two women had stolen two of his credit cards and a quantity of cash and had fled his home in a small car with, police said. Police found the vehicle on North Broadway about 10 to 15 minutes later in the area of the Salem Depot.
Officers determined the women had already stopped several times at local ATMs and a convenience store, making withdrawals and purchases totaling more than $1,800, police said. Police recovered $1,500 in cash, the credit cards, six personal checks and cartons of cigarettes.
Police say they are investigating the relationship between the homeowner and the two women.
Heather Middleton, 29, of Sarasota, Fla., was charged with fraudulent use of credit card, receiving stolen property, falsifying physical evidence, attempt to commit credit card fraud and criminal liability for conduct of another. She was held on $15,000 bail.
Kiow Sharpe, 29, of Lowell, Mass., was charged with fraudulent use of credit card, attempt to commit credit card fraud and receiving stolen property. She was held on $5,000 cash bail.
