Pinkerton Academy of Derry, Exeter High and schools from Greater Manchester will be well represented in this year's CHaD East-West All-Star Football Game.

Organizers of the second annual game to benefit Children's Hospital at Dartmouth announced team rosters on Thursday. Pinkerton and Exeter, competitors in the 2012 NHIAA Division I final, placed five players each on the East squad. Division II runner-up Bedford and Division IV runner-up Trinity of Manchester each had four players selected for the West team, joined by two each from Manchester Central and Manchester Memorial, along with one from Manchester West.

The game is scheduled for June 29 at the University of New Hampshire's Cowell Stadium.

"I wasn't surprised that we chose so many kids from the Manchester area, especially since Bedford had such a strong season," said former Central coach Jim Schubert, who will coach the West. "We tried to pick from a lot of different schools to get interest in a lot of communities. I didn't care where they came from. I just wanted good players."

Former Concord coach Bob Camirand will serve as the East's head coach. In addition to the 10 Division I players from runner-up Pinkerton and champion Exeter, the East has four players from Winnacunnet of Hampton, which won the Division II championship, and three from Portsmouth, which won the Division III title.

"As is the case with any all-star game, there are some people who are worthy who won't be selected," Camirand said. "We looked at people who were familiar with the 4-4 defense and running the football from under center out of the wing-T or the double-wing, which is what I hang my hat on.

"The Pinkerton kids and the Exeter kids are familiar with the offense we'll be running, so it makes for an easy transition."

Each coaching staff and the game's football committee selected the teams from a pool of players who were nominated by the state's high school coaches.

"This is an all-star game," Schubert said. "These are the best senior players in New Hampshire in the eyes of the coaches."

Two Manchester Central players picked up hardware after the West's 44-12 triumph last year. Wide receiver Junior Brown earned the Bo Dickson MVP Trophy, and placekicker Stephen Grzywacz received the Dan Duval Community Service Award for being the top fundraiser from either team.

The 2012 game raised more than $300,000.

Schubert and Camirand have a rich history of coaching against each other. Perhaps the most memorable meeting came in 2002, when Schubert's Central team posted a 3-0 overtime victory over Camirand's Concord squad in the Division I championship game.

"We're friends, but we're also competitive," Camirand said. "This game will be something positive no matter the outcome."

The West will practice at Manchester Memorial, and the East will practice at Exeter's Eustis Field.

"This game is all about character, so we picked kids with character," Schubert said.
