NHIAA Hockey Roundup: Memorial doubles up Nashua North, 8-4

Manchester Memorial got up early, fell behind and then pulled away to secure an 8-4 win over visiting Nashua North in Division I NHIAA boys' ice hockey action Saturday.

Jacob Boylan and Brady McNulty staked Memorial (5-1) to a 2-0 lead, but North (1-5) scored three in a row from Jake Latham, Billy Loranger and Tim Paige to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

Memorial scored four unanswered in the middle frame, getting tallies from Bryan Syrene, McNulty, Nick Burgess and Boylan. Colin Williamson and Brendan Sullivan scored the final two for Memorial while Latham netted North's last goal.

Bedford 8, Lebanon 0: At Goffstown, Chris O'Hara netted a hat trick and an assist while Kurt Mitchell scored twice and assisted twice as the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Raiders at Sullivan Arena at St. Anselm College. Neil Soucy also scored two goals. Bedford jumped to a 3-0 first period lead and added four middle period strikes to put the game out of reach.

Kennett 10: Kearsarge 2: At Conway, the host Eagles improved to 4-2 with big efforts from Anthony LaRusso (goal, four assists), Nick Massa (three goals, assist) and Connor Todd (goal, six assists).

Winnacunnet 5, Timberlane 4 (OT): At the Salem Icenter, Garrett Holt pulled Winnacunnet of Hampton within a goal with 1:09 left in the third period and Mike Millerick evened things up with 20 seconds left. Ryan Sullivan scored the winner 1:26 into overtime.

Sullivan finished with two goals and three assists while Jim Perry scored all four goals for Timberlane of Plaistow.

Bishop Guertin 9, Nashua South 2: At Conway Arena in Nashua, the Cardinals errupted for five goals in the second period to down the Panthers.

Chris Arling led the attack for Bishop Guertin of Nashua (4-2) with two goals and one assist, while Evan Dalaker had one goal and two assists. Eight players scored goals for the Cardinals. Dan Leblanc had a goal and an assist for Nashua South (0-6).

Goffstown 3, Alvirne 2 (OT): At Sullivan Arena in Goffstown, Andrew Chretien scored 1:06 into overtime and the Grizzlies picked up their fourth win in a row by beating the Broncos.

Dakota Mulcay tied the game up for Goffstown (4-2) when he scored with 1:49 left in regulation. Justin Ferguson finished with 42 saves for the Broncos (0-6).

Central 11, Bishop Brady 1: At the Everett Arena in Concord, Ross Lougee scored three goals and had two assists and Austin Sprague netted two goals with two helpers as the Little Green (5-0) remained unbeaten with a win over the Giants (0-7).

John Stark/Hopkinton 4, Souhegan 3: At Nashua, the winners struck for three goals in a two minute span of the third period to gain its margin of victory. Garrett Thomas, Simon Hunter and Simon Becka all scored to give JS/H a 4-2 lead with four minutes to play. Souhegan's Joe Nutting, who finished with a hat trick, tallied his third goal with two minutes to play in the third but the Sabers could not net the equalizer. Connor McDonald finished with 21 saves for JS/H while Ryan Peterson made 29 stops for Souhegan.

Merrimack 8, Somersworth/Coe-Brown 1: At Rochester, Connor Powell netted a hat trick while Shane Foye and Mark Feeney added two goals apiece to spark the Tomahawks to their sixth win without a loss. Brett Glendye made 21 saves and was beat just once by Somersworth/Coe-Brown's Timotej Jurenka. S/CB goalie Peter Robertson stopped 42 shots.
