NHIAA Box Scores and Summaries, Jan. 5, 2013
MANCHESTER - The Manchester Central High School wrestling team won nine matches against Manchester West to win a tie-breaker with Manchester Memorial and claim its fourth straight Queen City Wrestling Tournament Championship at Stone Gym on Saturday.
Heading into the final match of the day between the Little Green and Blue Knights, Central needed to win nine matches to beat Memorial in the tie-breaker. The Crusaders had already won 13 matches in the tournament and nine wins would give Central 14.
What put the Little Green over the top was seven straight wins at one point in the match featuring an upset first-period pin by Tomas Chebook of Aaron Welch at 132 pounds, Keaton Peterson's pin of Adam Briggs at 152 pounds and back-to-back pins by Gino Otero and Noah Owens.
In their win over Central, the Crusaders got a 15-5 major decision from Tyler Campbell over Chebook. In their win over Memorial, West's Mike Garcia pinned Christian Boucher at 220 pounds to seal the win.
