College Sports Roundup: St. A men cagers win

Mike MaCahey led five St. Anselm players in double figures with 19 points and the Hawks patiently pulled away from rival Bentley to post a 78-69 Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball victory in Waltham, Mass., Saturday.
The victory improved St. Anselm to 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference while the Falcons fell even at 5-5 and 3-3.
Roy Mabrey chipped in 14 Hawks points while Dino Mallios and Chris Santos each scored 11 and Dominic Borelli netted 10.
Andrew Shaw came off the Bentley bench to lead all scorers with 23 points.
St. Anselm built a lead as large as 13 points in the first half before settling for a 38-27 intermission advantage.
Stony Brook 65, New Hampshire 49: At Stony Brook, N.Y., Chandler Rhoads dropped in 14 points and hauled down seven rebounds, but the Wildcats failed to rally from a 10 point, 32-22 halftime deficit, and fell to 4-10 and 0-2 in America East. Patrick Konan added 11 points and two steals to the UNH totals.
Southern Maine 90, Keene State 83: At Keene, four players in double figures and a half dozen free throws in the game's final 1:14 weren't enough for the Owls. Eric Fazio scored 19 while Ryan Martin and Rashad Wright each added 17.
Eastern Connecticut 73, Plymouth State 63: At Willimantic, Conn., ECSU enjoyed five-point advantages during both halves as it secured the win. Alex Burt of Dover topped the Panthers (1-2 in LEC) with 17 points.
New England College 89, Maine Maritime 82: At Henniker, Abdirahman Mohamed and Ryan Schmidt led the Pilgrims to their first NAC win of the season with 22 points each.
Husson 73, Colby-Sawyer 71: At New London, the Chargers had the ball with 20 seconds to play but failed to score the equalizer and slipped to 3-3 in the NAC. Mike Dias topped CSC scorers with 16 points.
Princeton 2, Dartmouth 1: At Princeton, N.J., Eric Neiley scored his third goal of the season, but Princeton notched twice in the second period to hold off No. 8 Dartmouth. The one-goal loss was the third straight for the Big Green (8-5-2 overall and 4-3-1 in ECAC Hockey).
Saint Michael's 8, SNHU 2: Steven Berry and Joe Collins tallied the two goals.
St. Anselm 2, Buffalo State 2 (OT): At Buffalo, N.Y. Tim King and Tucker Mullin netted the Hawks goals while goalie Robert Kang made 35 saves.
Plymouth State 4, Babson 2: At Babson Park, Mass., Mike Freitag scored twice and Jack Astedt made 43 saves as PSU improved to 9-3-0.
New England College 2, Fredonia State 2 (OT): At Fredonia, N.Y., Cheyne Matheson scored a pair of third period goals to pull the Pilgrims to the draw.
Stony Brook 48, New Hampshire 44: At Durham, Stony Brook's Chikilra Goodman scored a game-high 18 points including the game's final three. Kelsey Hogan of Nashua and Elizabeth Belanger scored 12 and 11 points for UNH (0-2 AE).
Bentley 72, St. Anselm 49: At Waltham, Mass., Krista O'Gara came off the bench to lead the Hawks (1-6 NE-10) with 10 points . Christiana Bakolas of Manchester and Jane White of Amherst scored two each for No. 2 Bentley.
Eastern Connecticut State 66, Plymouth State 44: At Willimantic, Conn., PSU received 10 points from Bow's Meghan Faretra.
Southern Maine 72, Keene State 53: At Keene, despite 17 points from Amherst's Christan Wojtas and 15 from Siobhan Carnell, the Owls (5-6, 0-2 LEC) were outscored by 15 in the second half.
New England College 67, Maine Maritime 40: At Henniker, Stephanie Parker scored 18 points. Kate Levy tallied 11 and Markey Flewelling 10 as NEC moved to 6-0 in the NAC.
Colby-Sawyer 71, Husson 59: At New London, Cailin Bullett (nine points) moved into second on the Chargers all-time career assists list with 478 and 11th on the all-time scoring list with 1,046 career points.
Women's ice hockey
Dartmouth 6, Union 0: At Schenectady, N.Y., Zoe Brennan and Ailisha Forfar scored two goals each as the Big Green evened its ECAC Hockey record at 4-4-1.
St. Anselm 5, Franklin Pierce 0: At Winchendon, Mass., Courtney Winters scored a natural hat trick and added an assist for the Hawks. East.
