Woman remains in stable condition after Thursday's Farmington crash
FARMINGTON - Police must speak to more witnesses after a local woman was struck while walking along Route 11 Thursday evening, according to Lt. John Drury.
Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded around 5 p.m. after a Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Tiffany Bisson, 29, of Alton, struck Brenda Fields, 38, of Farmington, near Pike Industries.
Drury said they believe Fields was struck by the third car in a line of vehicles driving along the busy roadway. He said police are not sure whether Fields was the driver or passenger of a Jeep which broke down along Route 11.
"We're still trying to piece together what happened," Drury said.
Although firefighters requested a helicopter, Fire Chief Rich Fowler said they canceled it and transported Fields by ambulance to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
On Monday, she was listed in stable condition, according to hospital spokesman Michelle Landry.
About 45 minutes after the first crash Thursday, Fowler said a second accident occurred near Taylor Rental. He said the traffic back-up from the first accident led to the four-vehicle accident, which resulted in a minor injury and severe damage to one of the vehicles.
Fowler said the person in the second crash was treated and released at the scene, but the vehicle had to be towed.
