Teen injured when car goes off road in Swanzey

SWANZEY - A teen was medi-flighted from a crash on Sawyers Crossing Road with head injuries Thursday night. Police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. after a westbound 2000 Ford Ranger went off the road and struck a tree when the driver Royce Pelkey, 16, of Swanzey lost control.

Pelkey was airlifted to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., with head injuries, said Swanzey Police Lt. Mark Chamberlain. Two passengers in the vehicle were taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, he said. "It does appear that speed was a factor but it is still under investigation," Chamberlain said.
