UNH jumps to third in national hockey polls

A split over the weekend moved defending national champion Boston College and University of New Hampshire one notch higher in the latest weekly USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll. Boston College (13-4-2) jumped to a No. 2 national ranking ahead of No. 3 UNH (14-4-2) following their two-game split over the weekend. Minnesota (16-3-3) remains the top team in the nation in both polls. Dartmouth College (9-5-2) jumped up one position to No. 11 in both polls this week.

Honors

Keene State: Weekly Little East Conference honors went to Kelly Gilmore (women's diver and rookie diver), Maggie Fitter (women's track) and Lucia Martin of Swanzey (women's rookie field athlete).

Daniel Webster: Vanessa Bosques, the all-time career scorer in Daniel Webster College women's basketball program history, was named the New England Collegiate Conference player of the week and to the weekly honor roll of the New England Women's Basketball Association. Last Thursday, Bosques broke the program scoring record with a three-pointer, giving her 1,413 career points.

UNH: Morgan Frame, a senior forward on the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, is honored as America East player of the week.

Plymouth State: Panther starting senior goalie Jack Astedt was selected to the MASCAC men's ice hockey weekly honor roll.

Skiing

St. Anselm College: The men's team finished fifth Friday and sixth Saturday, competing in the Castleton State College Carnival in Killington, Vt. On Friday Benjamin Roy finished fifth in 1:04.01, Eric Brandolini of Georges Mills recorded a 31.97 time on his first run and a 33.69 time on his second for a total of 1:05.66. He placed 13th overall. Luke Robbins of Campton finished in the top 50 in 1:15.33. The Hawks posted a total team time of 5:22.99 on Saturday.

St. Anselm College: The women's team posted a fourth place finish Friday and a second place finish on Saturday, competing in the Castleton State College Carnival in Killington, Vt.

Caitlin Forbes led the Hawks with two first-place finishes on both days. Forbes posted a combined time of 1:15.04 on Friday and a 1:13.45 on Saturday.

On Saturday Kirsten Huff finished 12th overall with a first run time of 38.52 and a second run time of 39.64. Christina Berge of Bedford placed 53rd in Friday's action in 1:38.21.
