Two men arrested in connection with Farmington shooting

FARMINGTON - As part of an ongoing investigation, area police arrested two men Tuesday night in connection with a shooting that happened along Meetinghouse Hill Road last week.

Members of N.H. State Police and officers from Farmington and Somersworth arrested Stephen Roy, 24, of 4 Lords Court, Somersworth, while officers from Berwick, Maine, detained Joshua E. Dionne, 27, of 34 Market St., Apt. B, North Berwick, Maine.

Roy, who was one of two people injured during the shooting, was charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. He was held on $100,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in 7th Circuit Court, Rochester District Division, this morning.

Dionne, who was charged with a parole violation, was held at York County Jail in Alfred, Maine. Once a warrant is issued, police expect to charge him as a fugitive from justice. He will then be arraigned in Maine before being extradited back to New Hampshire, where he would face robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery charges, according to police.

Police are seeking a warrant to arrest a third suspect, whose identity is being withheld until his arrest. The charges stem from an incident which occurred Friday at 316 Meetinghouse Hill Road. Two people, including Roy and a 21-year-old man, sought medical assistance Friday for the injuries they sustained during the shooting, according to police.

Police Chief Kevin Willey said a "small caliber rifle" was the weapon used during the incident. One man, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was treated at York Hospital in York, Maine, but he checked himself out within hours, while the second man, who sustained a chest wound, was transferred from Portsmouth Regional Hospital to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass., according to police. Willey said that man has also been discharged from the hospital.

While police from Barrington, Portsmouth and York, Maine, also assisted with the investigation, local officers continue to work with members of N.H. State Police and the Strafford County Attorney's Office.

"Additional details will be released when it is determined that releasing this information will not jeopardize or interfere with the investigation," according to police.
