Police say man got ride, then disabled driver with spray and robbed him
ROCHESTER - Police are looking for a man whom they say robbed another man after he was given a ride Friday morning.
Police responded to the area near the Market Basket along Milton Road - Route 125 - after the driver reported the robbery around 8:25 a.m.
The person told officers that he was flagged down by a man on Chestnut Road in Farmington who said his vehicle had gone off the road and he needed a ride to Northcoast Drive, according to police.
Upon arriving, the man began to get out of the vehicle, but sprayed the driver in the face "what was described as pepper spray."
After taking the man's cell phone and an undisclosed amount of money, the assailant fled on foot, according to police.
Rochester's K-9 team responded to the scene and tracked the trail to an area where the man possibly got into another vehicle.
Police continue to investigate the matter.
The assailant was described as a white man in his early to mid-20s, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 inches tall with a medium build and a neatly trimmed full beard.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing blue jeans, white sneakers, a blue New England Patriots sweatshirt and a blue New England Patriots hat with a pom-pom, according to police.
