SALEM - A woman arrested for shoplifting on Thursday was caught as she tried to wheel a 55-inch television out of the exit of a Walmart, police said.
Police say it was the second time Nadia Ibrahim, 30, of Manchester had stolen pricey electronics from the store inside of a month. Ibrahim also allegedly stolen four iPads valued at $1,516 on Jan. 4, police said.
Salem police say they have apprehended several suspects in recent months at the store who are simply loading merchandise into carriages and wheeling it out the front door.
On Nov. 21, Richard Kuchinsky, 42, pleaded guilty to theft and criminal trespassing charges for taking two large flat screen televisions out of Walmarts in Salem and Epping. Those thefts happened April 23 and 25. He is now serving a 2½- to 5-year state prison sentence.
Eric Erosa, 36, was sentenced this month to 1 to 2 years in state prison, admitting that he and his friend, Jeremie Stefan, 33, stole a Dell computer and Sony Bravia LCD television from a Walmart in Newington over two days last March. During another theft, Stefan walked out of a Walmart store in Portsmouth with a 47-inch LCD high definition television. Stefan also hit a Target store in Greenland and Walmart stores in Newington and Portsmouth during a three-week period, making off with hundreds of dollars in valuables on each heist last March, according to prosecutors.
When police were called to Walmart on Thursday at 4 p.m., Ibrahim had allegedly left the store with the LED TV and several other items without paying for them. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $1,064, police said. Detectives were later able to identify her as the woman who had stolen 4 iPads valued at $1516 on Jan. 4, police said.
Police say Ibrahim was able to take $2,580 worth of goods during the two thefts. After a brief struggle, Ibrahim was taken into custody without incident. She was charged with two counts of willful concealment and released on $950 bail.
