NHIAA Roundup: Akot leads Memorial; Trinity, Pinkerton boys roll
Hot-shooting Cam Meservey sank four 3-pointers and had 14 points to lead Bedford, which gave up 22 points in the fourth quarter. James Caparell added 12 points for the Bulldogs (3-4).
Trinity 92, Manchester West 42: At Manchester, Carmen Giampetruzzi tallied 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Trinity notched its seventh consecutive win of the season at the Quinn Gym. Patrick Keefe added 18 points for the Pioneers, while Mabor Gabriel tallied nine points, 14 rebounds and five blocked shots. The Blue Knights (1-6) received a double-figure effort from Nolan Flynn, who finished with 14 points. Trinity led, 47-15, at the half.
Pinkerton 75, Concord 51: At Derry, Cam Welch scored 18 points and Luke Testa finished with 16 to help the Astros raise their record to 2-5 in Division I. Kaleb Marquis scored 15 to lead Concord, which dropped to 1-7.
Alvirne 59, Exeter 56: At Exeter, Tyler Livingston tossed in a game-high 19 points as the Broncos raised their Division I record to 4-3. Zack Holler (12 points) and Joe Schiedler (11) led the Blue Hawks, who dropped to 2-5.
Dover 63, Salem 53: At Salem, Billy Carroll had 14 points, and the Green Wave improved to 4-3 with a solid road victory. Dover exploded for 22 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Michael Felix had 12 points to lead Salem, which fell to 1-6.
Bishop Guertin 73, Timberlane 56: At Nashua, Jeff Lunn led BG with 24 points and 22 rebounds as the Cardinals improved to 7-1 in Division I. John Noon made six 3-pointers and added 20 points for BG. Tommy Johnson scored a team-high 22 for Timberlane, which dropped to 0-8.
Pembroke 78, Kingswood 41: At Pembroke, the Spartans had two players turn in double-doubles as they improved to 9-0 on the season. Kafani Williams finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds, and point guard Rene Maher netted 10 points and dished out 11 assists. Maher also had eight steals. Matt Persons topped all scorers in the game with 24 points, and Dominic Timbas and Cameron Taylor each pulled down 10 rebounds. Pembroke leading scorer Pat Welch (sore back) did not play. Adam Zewczyk tallied a dozen for Kingswood.
Bishop Brady 65, Goffstown 62: At Goffstown, the Grizzlies struggled during the waning minutes and surrendered 21 fourth-period points while scoring just seven. Sophomore Jourdain Bell led the Giants with 27 points while his brother, freshman Joe Bell, added 15. Goffstown placed four players in double figures. Tim Riehl scored 18, Jack Mount netted 14, Nate Hoffman banked in 12 and Mike Bailey tallied 10. Goffstown led 55-45 after three quarters.
Derryfield 52, Epping 46: At Manchester, host Derryfield made seven consecutive free throws in the final 90 seconds to improve its Division IV record to 7-1. Roger Larrivee scored a team-high 19 for Derryfield, which made 15 of its 17 free throw attempts in the game. Jimmy Stanley led Epping with 21. The Blue Devils were within two points with 51 seconds left, but dropped to 6-3.
Colebrook 75, Groveton 52: At Colebrook, the Mohawks enjoyed a 40-23 halftime advantage en route to their fifth win in nine games. Dylan Leach keyed the hosts effort with 20 points, and Jake Scherer and Jordan Bedard dropped in 14 and 13 points, respectively. Groveton freshman Corey Gadwah continued his hot shooting from beyond the three-point arc with a trio of treys. Brandon Joy led the Eagles with 18 points and Ethan Marshall scored 10.
Gilford 62, Belmont 51: At Belmont, the Golden Eagles extended their Division III unbeaten streak to eight games as Josh Joyce poured in 20 points, Sam Prescott netted 14 and Abe Sykie chipped in 10. The winners led 17-3 after one period. Pedro Perez paced the Raiders (2-6) with 17 points while Brett Spaulding and Caleb Crace added 11 and 10 respectively.
Profile 57, Moultonborough 37: At Bethlehem, senior guard Zach Burns scored a game-high 25 points as Profile improved its Division IV record to 7-1. Senior forward Bradford Weeks added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Profile. The loss dropped Moultonborough's record to 3-6.
Coe-Brown 63, Kennett 44: At Northwood, Andrew Langdon's 17 points pushed the Black Bears to 6-1. Ten different Coe-Brown players scored in the game which was won by a defense that limited Kennett to just six points in the first quarter and four in the third.
Pinkerton 56, Concord 23: The Astros stayed undefeated as Kayla Stacy, Brandi Bonneau and Corinna Moore all sank 3-pointers at Concord. Stacy led the way with 12 points, and Pinkerton's defense held Concord to seven field goals. The Astros improved to 9-0, while Concord dropped to 0-9. Debbie Morrill had nine points to lead Concord.
Central 49, Merrimack 37: At Manchester, freshman Amanda Gaudreault had a career-high 13 points, and the Little Green exploded for 20 points in the fourth quarter. Katherine Johnson netted 12 points as Central improved to 2-7. Kate Cole had 13 points for Merrimack (4-6).
Londonderry 89, Keene 35: At Londonderry, junior guard Aliza Simpson scored a season-high 28 points and had nine assists as the Lancers (7-2) steamrolled to a win. Casey Evans scored 15 and Jaime King had nine points for the winners. Allie Yeaw hit a three and paced Keene (2-7) with 10 points.
Nashua North 68, Spaulding 45: At Rochester, Taylor Choate and Genevieve Gosselin each scored 13 points and Marie LaPlante added 11 as the Titans won their eighth game without a loss. North put the game away in the third period when it ballooned a 25-21 halftime lead into a 54-30 advantage. Emily Benway topped the Red Raiders shooters with 17 points.
Lebanon 55, Milford 27: At Milford, the Raiders improved to 8-0 behind the double-figure efforts of Heather King, Emily Kehoe and Moriah Morton who netted 17, 14 and 13 points respectively. The Spartans, who fell to 6-3, were topped by Jenn Dupuis' nine points and two three-pointers.
