College Roundup: Dartmouth hockey team tops Brown

Four players scored as the 11th-ranked Dartmouth men's hockey team swept the season series with Brown by posting a 4-2 win at Meehan Auditorium in Providence, R.I., on Friday night.

Dartmouth raised its record to 10-5-2 overall and 6-3-1 in ECAC play. Both of Dartmouth's road victories this season have come against Brown.

Tim O'Brien, Matt Lindblad, Eric Robinson and Brandon McNally scored for the Big Green. Lindblad's goal came while Dartmouth was short-handed, and McNally scored into an empty net with 1:05 to play.

Brown scored its second goal with 9.1 seconds remaining. Dartmouth goaltender Cab Morris turned aside 31 shots.

Dartmouth visits Yale tonight in New Haven, Conn.

UMass-Boston 3, St. Anselm 1: At Boston, Liam McKilop's power-play goal was the highlight for the Hawks, who dropped to 8-4-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the ECAC East. UMass-Boston scored in each period and improved to 12-3-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the league.



Women's hockey



Dartmouth 3, Union 0: At Hanover, Dartmouth scored three first-period goals and stretched its winning streak to five games. Dartmouth improved to 12-5-2 overall and 7-4-1 in conference play. Union fell to 7-13-3 and 0-8-3 in the league.

Reagan Fischer scored twice for Dartmouth, which also received a goal from Jenna Hobeika.

St. Anselm 4, Southern Maine 1: Courtney Winters scored twice to help the Hawks improve to 11-3-2 overall.

Kathryn Picarello and Rosemarie Giarrusso also scored for St. Anselm, which struck three times in the third period. Southern Maine (4-7-4) allowed three power-play goals.

Plymouth State 1, UMass-Boston 1, OT: At Plymouth, junior Montana Heinlein scored the lone goal for Plymouth State, which received 33 saves from Ali Ponte and improved to 3-11-1 overall (2-6-1 ECAC East). Courtney White scored her first goal of the season for UMass-Boston, which is 6-9-2 overall and 3-5-2 in the league.



Skiing



Bean leads UNH to victory: Wolfeboro's Anya Caldwell Bean earned a second-place finish to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team to victory in the women's 15K freestyle Nordic race to highlight the team's performance on the opening day of the St. Lawrence Carnival on Friday.

Bean crossed the finish line in 41 minutes, 34.5 seconds - 7.1 seconds behind winner Anja Gruber of Vermont. The Wildcats, who finished third overall, took ninth place in the men's 20K free. Erik Lindgren led the men's Nordic contingent by finishing 26th in 51:06.9.



Basketball: UNH announces deal for today's doubleheader



The University of New Hampshire athletic department has announced that fans can watch two UNH basketball games for the price of one ticket Saturday, when the UNH men and women host a doubleheader against Boston University.

The women open the doubleheader when they play BU at 2 p.m. The men's game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Additionally, fans will gain complimentary admission to both basketball games if they show their men's hockey ticket for Saturday's game against Providence College (7 p.m.) at the Lundholm Gymnasium door.
