HILLSBOROUGH - A two-alarm fire heavily damaged a home at 43 Hemlock St. Saturday afternoon, and fire officials believe it started around the woodstove.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott Murdough said the homeowner had just left the residence when the fire was reported around 2 p.m. By the time the fire was brought under control about 90 minutes later, the interior of the home was heavily damaged, he said.

Murdough said the state fire marshal's office has been called to investigate the cause of the fire but it appears to have started around the stovepipe.

Henniker, Antrim and Deering fire departments provided mutual aid.
