BRENTWOOD - A Portsmouth man has been indicted for committing two armed robberies last winter, including one where he allegedly struck a woman with a pellet gun until it broke, prosecutors said.

David Wilson, 27, was indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury on two counts of robbery and a single count of receiving stolen property.

The stolen property charge arises out of Wilson allegedly having possession of a chain saw, chain saw parts and tools belonging to another man on April 2. Indictments say the value of the items was more than $1,500.

Wilson was allegedly on probation in Maine when he robbed a Tedeschi Foods market on Islington Street last Jan. 29 at 5:15 p.m. using what appeared to be a gun, according to prosecutors.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the scene, police said.

On Feb. 1, he attacked a woman who was walking along the Vaughn Mall in the Worth parking lot shortly after 8 p.m., striking her repeatedly with a pellet gun that broke, police said.

The attacker took the woman's purse and struck the victim multiple times in the head before fleeing on foot, police said.

Investigators obtained DNA evidence during the Tedeschi Foods robbery linking Wilson to the crime, and later determined the pellet gun belonged to him as well, according to prosecutors.

U.S. Marshals apprehended Wilson in Gardiner, Maine on Sept. 14. Court records say Wilson already has a robbery conviction in Maine, which landed him in state prison in 2006. He also has convictions for theft, burglary and criminal threatening, court records say. Wilson has remained held at the Rockingham County jail since his apprehension in September. He will be arraigned later this month on his charges in superior court.
