NEW HAMPTON – Police are looking for a man who was caught on a convenience store security camera stealing $100 worth of N.H. Lottery scratch tickets and a pair of gloves from Tedeschi's on Tuesday night.
If caught and convicted of the crimes, the man potentially faces hundreds of dollars in fines and up to a year in jail on theft charges.

The suspect, who looked to be in his 20s or 30s, came to the store on Route 104 at about 10 p.m., said New Hampton Police Chief Merritt Salmon.

While the cashier of the store was away from the sales counter, the suspect, who was wearing a black-and-red cap and a dark TSA racing sweatshirt, reached behind a stack of $20 scratch tickets and carefully removed five of them, Salmon said. He then took a pair of gloves from the store shelf.
Salmon said police are hoping that the clarity of the still photos taken from the security videotape will catch the attention of someone who knows the suspect.
Anyone with information about the suspect and/or the crime is asked to call New Hampton police at 744-5423.
New Hampton police have contacted lottery officials about the crime. The commission has the numberings of the stolen tickets and has set all its machines to register the tickets as fraudulent, Salmon said.
"If he tries to cash in one of those tickets, they will register as stolen tickets," he said.
