NH College Sports Roundup: UNH hockey team jumps to No. 3 in one national poll

The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team moved up one spot in this week's USCHO.com Division I poll, jumping to No. 3.

UNH (15-6-2) is ranked fourth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Trevor van Riemsdyk recorded a career-high four assists as UNH defeated Merrimack College, 6-2, on Saturday night at Verizon Wireless Arena, snapping a two-game losing streak. His strong play at the blue line has helped UNH to a No. 1 ranking in Hockey East in both offense (3.48 goals per game) and defense (2.26 gpg), as well as penalty kill (93.4 percent).

In the weekly USCHO.com Division I poll, Minnesota edged out Quinnipiac for the top spot. Miami (Ohio) ranks fourth and Boston College fifth. Dartmouth College, which has lost two of three games, dropped four spots to No. 16.
