Red-hot St. Anselm hoopsters host New Haven tonight

After winning nine of its past 10 games, the St. Anselm College men's basketball team sits atop the Northeast-10 Conference standings entering tonight's home game against New Haven at Stoutenburgh Gym. The Hawks improved to 14-3 overall and 10-3 in conference play with an eye-opening 80-67 victory against Le Moyne College on Saturday. St. Anselm drained 18 3-pointers in the contest, the second most in program history.

Sophomore Roy Mabrey, who scored a game-high 24 points against Le Moyne, leads the conference in scoring at 19.4 points per game. Freshman standout Mike McCahey, who has started all 17 games, is averaging 17.6 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game. High-powered St. Anselm is leading the NE-10 in scoring, averaging 83.9 points while shooting a league-best 40.8 percent from 3-point range.

New Haven (12-5 overall, 9-4 NE-10) is led by forward Eric Anderson, who is averaging a double-double with 12.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. New Haven's inside-outside attack features shooting guard Justin Exum, who has made a remarkable 51.8 percent of his 3-point attempts this season. Exum leads the Chargers in scoring at 17.1 points per game. New Haven, coming off a 50-48 triumph at Bentley, enters the contest with a 10-game winning streak.
