Black ice causes slick roads
Highway officials lowered speeds to 45 mph on state roads north of Canterbury. Signs on other state highways caution motorists to slow down and allow extra time to reach their destinations because of black ice, according to a spokesman at the state Traffic Management Center in Concord.
Highway crews were out all night sanding and salting the roads. Minor crashes with cars sliding off roads have been reported but nothing that has required a state road to shut down, the traffic official said at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
