MANCHESTER - With more snow falling this morning, after a weekend Nor'easter that dumped more than two feet of snow in some spots across New Hampshire, the N.H. Department of Transportation has lowered speeds on state highways to a maximum of 45 mph Monday morning.

"Conditions are less than favorable, let's just put it that way," said Laura McCarthy, DOT operations supervisor.

She said snow started falling between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m., so it did not cause that much trouble for the morning commute with few accidents reported.

However, the difficulty for highway crews now, she explained, is anticipating what is needed to treat the roads given today's forecast of a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain.

The mix is expected to turn to all rain for southern New Hampshire later this afternoon, with all snow in the northern parts of the state.
