MANCHESTER - A Central High art teacher is on paid administrative leave after police arrested her Friday for allegedly allowing drug sales from her apartment, authorities said.
Lisa Tagalakis Fedor, 42, of 151 Sagamore St., was arrested on warrants for criminal liability to drug sales and endangering the welfare of a child. She made bail late Friday and faces a Feb. 28 court date.
Police said she was aware that her roommate, Robert Doane, 26, of Manchester "was actively involved in drug sales from the apartment they shared and also in possession of a stolen firearm," according to a police news release. "Tagalakis Fedor reportedly allowed this ongoing activity to occur at their residence in the presence of her two young sons."
Her children have been placed with a family member pending further assessment by the state Division of Children, Youth and Families, according to police.
"She's been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation," school superintendent Tom Brennan said Saturday night. "If convicted, that would be a possibility: termination."
Mayor Ted Gatsas, who chairs the city school board, declined comment beyond confirming the teacher was on administrative leave.
Tagalakis Fedor came to the police station around 8 p.m. Friday with an attorney and was released that night on $10,000 personal recognizance bail, police said.
A message left at her residence Saturday wasn't returned.
Police said they learned Doane was selling drugs at the residence and detectives, conducting surveillance there on Jan. 29, observed a suspected drug sale between Doane and two men outside.
Police said Doane had intended to sell heroin to the men but didn't complete the sale when he became suspicious of an unmarked police car in the area.
Manchester police, along with state probation and parole representatives, went to the residence on Feb. 5 to check on Doane, but only found Tagalakis Fedor's boyfriend, Kristopher White, 21, who also lives at that address.
Police found a small amount of suspected cocaine in Doane's room and also recovered a handgun that had been reported stolen from a parked vehicle at the Target parking lot in Hooksett on Jan. 7.
Police found the gun in the room White shares with Tagalakis Fedor and learned that White knew the gun was stolen and had agreed to hold on to it for Doane, who had just left the residence before police arrived.
The next day, White was arrested on a felony warrant for receiving stolen property.
Doane was located Feb. 7 and held on a probation violation.
He later was charged with receiving stolen property, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, attempt to commit sale of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic and armed career criminal.
