NH College Roundup: UNH stays fifth in national hockey polls

The University of New Hampshire men's hockey retained its fifth-place ranking in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.

The Wildcats own a 16-8-4 record and play next in a two-game series at the University of Vermont on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.

Dartmouth, meanwhile, is ranked 19th in the USCHO Poll and received six votes in the 15-team USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.

The Big Green are 12-9-4 and travel to St. Lawrence on Friday and Clarkson on Saturday for a pair of 7 p.m. face-offs.

Quinnipiac retained its No. 1 ranking in both polls.

Honors

St. Anselm: Hockey forward and team captain Tucker Mullin, of Andover, Mass., has been selected as one of five finalists for the 2013 BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award. The award recognizes college hockey's finest citizen, the individual who seeks to give back to his community in the true humanitarian spirit.

Mullin was nominated for the award as a result of the many charitable endeavors that he has undertaken over the previous four seasons. Among his endeavors, he co-founded the Thomas E. Smith Fight to Cure Paralysis Foundation, a 501c(3) non-profit organization that benefits those affected by and living with paralysis through emotional and financial support. The organization has raised over $51,000 and awarded $34,700 in grants.

The four other finalists for the award are Brett Beebe of Western Michigan, Alyssa Zupon of Yale, Kaare Odegard of Alaska and Jeffrey Reppucci of Holy Cross.

St. Anselm: Kathryn Picarello and Alex Kazmer of the women's ice hockey team were named ECAC East Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

New Hampshire: Women's hockey standout Alexis Crossley was named the America East Pro Ambitions Co-Rookie of the Week ... Laura McHoul won America East women's lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors.

Keene State: Ryan Widzgowski and Maggie Fitter were named the male and female Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week ... Kellygilmore is the LEC Rookie Diver of the Week.

Men's tennis

SNHU 6, Holy Cross 3: At Goffstown, Mitch Dobek, Juan Arango-Campo and Mike Wallace won at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles and the Penmen improved to 8-0 Sunday.
