Ex-Dartmouth lacross coach Schimoler dies

Former Dartmouth College assistant men's lacrosse coach Paul Schimoler passed away Friday after a short battle with cancer. He was set to begin his second season on the staff, but stepped down when he was diagnosed with the illness in January.

Schimoler was a 1989 graduate of Cornell, where he was a four-time All-American and Ivy League Player of the Year.

He was an assistant coach at Cornell and head coach at RPI and St. Michael's before coming to Dartmouth.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Ellen, their son Jack, 5, and daughter Serena, 19.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of St. Michael the Archanglel on the campus of St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt.
