NH College Roundup: Balanced BU men get the best of UNH

The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team shot 56 percent from the floor in the second half. Unfortunately the team was trailing by 17 points entering the final 20 minutes of play.

Four Terriers recorded 10 or more points as Boston University posted a 68-56 America East home win at the Case Gymnasium in Boston Sunday. Maurice Watson Jr. recorded 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Terriers, while Dom Morris (13 points), D.J. Irving (10) and Malik Thomas (10) also reached double figures.

Chris Pelcher scored 15 points for UNH, which dropped to 7-17 overall and 3-9 in America East. Boston University climbed to 15-11 overall and 9-4 in league play.

Women's hockey

UNH 3, Providence 3: In Durham, sophomore Kayla Mork tallied the game-tying goal with 2:14 remaining in the third period for the Wildcats, who stand at 13-14-3 overall and 9-7-2 in conference play. Providence stands at 14-12-5 and 8-7-3 in Hockey East action.

Women's tennis

SNHU 9, AIC 0: In Ludlow, Mass., the Penmen improved to 9-1, including 7-0 in conference play. At No. 1 singles play, Alena Mukdaprakorn of SNHU defeated Manon Janin 6-0, 7-5.

Skiing

Plymouth State University: In Hanover at the Dartmouth Carnival, Chris Beadon led the men's squad with an 18th-place finish in a field of 86 racers. For the women's team, Matilda Ljuden finished 42nd and Eliza Whatley ended 44th overall.

Swimming and diving

Plymouth State University: Shannon Rogers earned All-New England honors with a fifth-place finish in the three-meter diving event during the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships held at the PSU Natatorium in Plymouth. Rogers (322.35 points) finished less than a point ahead of Keene State College freshman Shannon Summers (321.90).

Keene State: Josh Tuller finished first and freshman Kelly Gilmore placed third in the three-meter diving competition of the NEISDA Championships at Plymouth State. In looking to become the first KSC male diver to earn an NCAA berth, Tuller will compete at the New England regional diving competition March 1-2 at Springfield College.

Men's basketball

Penn 67, Dartmouth 57: At Leede Arena in Hanover, Dartmouth took a 30-18 lead into the locker room at the half, but Penn hit 16-of-21 field goals (.762) and 15-of-19 free throws (.789) over the final 20 minutes to outscore the host Big Green by 22 after the break. Gabas Maldunas recorded his second double-double of the season.

Women's basketball

Penn 63, Dartmouth 40: In Philadelphia, Abbey Schmitt scored 12 points for Dartmouth, 6-15 overall and 4-3 in the Ivy.

Plymouth State 4, UMass-Dartmouth 4 (OT): The Panthers surrrendered three unanswered third-period goals and squandered a 4-1 lead on the road. Richie Zobak, Zach Sarig, Josh Woody and Dave Walters provided the PSU scoring. Goalie Jack Astedt made 45 saves.

Brockport 6, Franklin Pierce 2: In Brockport, N.Y., Brendan Glynn had two assists for FPU.

Swimming

NCAA Division III Championships: In Storrs, Conn., Keene State's Julie Trodden won the 1650-free in 17:30.15. She broke the school record with her 10:28.34 split at the 1000-yard mark. Undefeated Diana Pimer won the 200 breast in 2:21.82. Manchester's Cole Hogg won the 500 free (4:38.96) and Randy Dunton won the 200 back (1:54.56). The Owl men also went 1-2-3 in the 50 and 100 frees.
