Meredith's Mills Falls resort adds yoga, wellness center
MEREDITH - Gail Batstone, the general manager of the Inns & Spa at Mill Falls, is not just the founder of the new Sacred Waters Yoga and Wellness Center.
She's also a client.
Batstone was a client at The Practice Room Center for Yoga and Healing in Meredith for several years, a student of Christina Alexa, who owned and ran the business. Alexa opened her business in 2007.
Last year, Batstone approached Alexa with a proposal to build a yoga studio and wellness center in a building previously occupied by the Christmas Loft on Daniel Webster Highway that Mill Falls had recently purchased.
"(Batstone) was one of my best students," Alexa said. "Then last year she approached me with the idea of building a new studio as an extension of Mill Falls. She thought it would be a good marriage."
Alexa agreed, and is now director of operations at the new center, which will hold its grand opening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"As a yoga student myself . I believe this yoga and wellness center will perfectly complement our offerings at Mill Falls and be a welcome addition for our guests as well as the lake community,"Batstone said.
The new 3,100-square-foot studio features two large instructional rooms, two treatment rooms, and a new state-of-the-art upstairs studio to practice "hot yoga."
Sacred Waters will also offer Aerial Yoga, a new type of yoga that combines traditional yoga with the physical training of an aerialist using fabric trapezes or hammocks that hang from the ceiling.
The yoga center will also offer chakra readings, intuitive healing therapy, movement therapy, nutrition and wellness counseling, psychotherapy and reiki. Art exhibits and concerts will also be featured.
Alexa, a master-certified yoga and healing therapist with 28 years of personal healing and practice, is excited about her new surroundings and programs.
"It's so far beyond my original vision of The Practice Room, it's amazing," she said.
