NHIAA Roundup: Bedford skaters hand Merrimack first loss

Ben Philbrick scored the winning goal at the 7:04 mark of the third period as the Bedford boys' hockey team handed Merrimack its first loss, 2-1, on Thursday at West Side Arena in Manchester.
Bedford is 12-3-2 in Division II, while the Tomahawks are 16-1. The teams play again Saturday at noon at Sullivan Arena on the St. Anselm campus.
Trinity 2, Hanover 2 (OT): At St. Anselm, Mitch Myers and Kyle Valliere gave Trinity of Manchester a 2-0 lead in the second period, but the Pioneers couldn't hold off Hanover and settled for a tie. Mike Yukica and Joe Cravero each scored for the Marauders (5-8-3), and goalie James Montgomery made 38 saves. Trinity goalie Ryan Slatky made 34 saves. The Pioneers moved to 11-5-2.
Pinkerton 55, Salem 39: In Derry, Val Martin and Brandi Bonneau each netted 14 points for Pinkerton in the last Division I regular-season girls' basketball game for both teams Thursday. Pinkerton (16-2) is currently in second place but could fall to third place if Bedford (15-2) beats Keene today. Bedford defeated Pinkerton on Feb. 15.
Kayla Stacy netted 11 points for the winners. Brenna Blakslee had eight points for Salem which ended its regular season in eighth place with an 11-7 record.
Boys' basketball (regular season)
Memorial 68, Exeter 59: In Manchester, Kabongo Ngalukulondi had a game-high 22 points and Tong Akot scored 18 for Memorial (12-3). Tschiefu Ngalukulondi added 13 points for the Crusaders. Zach Holles had a team-high 18 points for the Blue Hawks (7-9).
Goffstown 74, ConVal 61: Tim Riehl had a season-high 22 points and Jake Mount chipped in with 14 as host Goffstown (5-11) topped ConVal of Peterborough (1-16).
Moultonborough 54, Portsmouth Christian 53: In Moultonborough, the Panthers (7-11) exploded for 26 second period points as John Fownes scored 11 of his 14 points in that quarter. Johnny McClay (11 points) and Alex Norton (10) contributed to the win.
