Parents give Portsmouth hoops director check for medical bills

PORTSMOUTH — A community showed its love for one of its own in a time of need during halftime of a youth basketball game Thursday night. While fifth-grade girls from New Franklin and Little Harbour schools battled it out on the court at the new Connie Bean Community Center in the championship game of a city recreational league, the league's director sought to contain his emotions as he reflected on what has admittedly been a challenging year.
