Nick Stillian opened the championship round with a strike and added three more after that in the match as he claimed the NHIAA Individual Bowling Championship at Spare Time in Manchester on Saturday.

Stillian, a senior at Pinkerton Academy of Derry, beat Justin Conway of Merrimack for the title by a score of 181-161.

"I just had a couple of good matches," Stillian said. "I had confidence on my side and things worked out."

Stillian was the top qualifier and knocked off teammate Raina Stobbs 228-226 in the round of 16. Then he beat Cam Calato of Souhegan 222-167 in the quarterfinals, which earned him a berth in the championship round.

Conway had to win four matches to get into the title game. He was the No. 6 seed and beat No. 11 Shane Washburn of Stevens in the round of 16, then downed No. 3 Jennifer Lemay of Lebanon in the quarterfinals.

That put Conway in the first round of the stepladder finals, where he downed Daniel Simino of Stevens 161-119. He then beat Shawn Fitzpatrick of Stevens in the second round 162-158 before losing to Stillian.
