MANCHESTER - A bail revocation hearing is set for this morning in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division for Dante Baker, 37, of 400 Harvard St.
Baker is accused of violating bail conditions on December assault charges that bar contact with the alleged victim. Baker is accused of face-to-face contact with the woman at the Econolodge on Feb. 8 and of grabbing her phone and throwing it, which broke the phone.
Baker, who pleaded innocent, is scheduled for trial on the new charges March 20.
Claims victim is lying
Mark Lamper, 53, of 220 Amherst St., pleaded innocent Monday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to three charges of simple assault of his sister. "She's lying," Lamper said.
A police prosecutor requested $500 cash/surety bail for Lamper, but Judge Gregory Michael made the bail personal recognizance, with the requested conditions of no contact and not going to the woman's residence.
When Michael asked Lamper if his sister lives at the Amherst Street address, Lamper said: "She doesn't live there but she came into my home."
Trial was set for March 26.
Boyfriend wants her
A woman accused of threatening to hit her boyfriend with a table lamp and of screaming obscenities when police arrested her, Monday told Circuit Court-Manchester District Division Judge Gregory Michael: "I tend to feel OK and go off my meds."
Melissa McCarthy, 39, of 348 Spruce St., pleaded innocent the two misdemeanor charges and a status hearing in community connections court was set for April 9.
Court documents show that when police responded to a call at the Spruce Street address, McCarthy had been drinking a bottle of whiskey. "I'm not getting meds," said McCarthy, who also said, "I am on parole."
Police prosecutor Carissa Pelletier said McCarthy's parole officer has placed a 72-hour hold on McCarthy, so bail would not take effect until the hold is resolved.
Pelletier sought $5,000 cash/surety bail, noting McCarthy's criminal record includes two first-degree assault convictions, driving while intoxicated and disorderly conduct.
McCarthy's mother came forward from the gallery and said McCarthy could stay with her at a Lowell Street address if McCarthy is released on bail.
The judge set bail at $2,000 cash/surety with conditions barring contact with McCarthy's boyfriend and requiring her to live with her mother on Lowell Street if she is released on bail.
Says he's not on lease
Edwin Soto, 22, of 459 Beech St., wanted to make it clear Monday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division that he is not on the lease at the Beech Street address where he is accused of kicking in the bottom of a door and breaking a hallway window during an argument with his girlfriend.
"Everybody has a bad day," Soto told Judge Gregory Michael.
A police prosecutor requested $2,000 cash/surety bail for Soto, noting he has 2012 convictions for resisting arrest and for possession of a controlled drug and resisting arrest.
Michael set bail at the requested amount, with conditions that include not returning to the Beech Street address.
Trial was set for March 26.
Now in Manchester
Victor Ocasio, 20, of 246 E. High St., pleaded innocent Monday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to charges of simple assault, resisting arrest (2) and obstructing government administration.
Ocasio, formerly of Fitchburg, Mass., was arrested by officers responding to a report of an underage drinking party on Parker Avenue Saturday morning at about 2 a.m.
Court documents show Ocasio ignored a police officer's first order to stop walking away and tried to walk away after stopping for a second order. The officer said he could not understand Ocasio because the 20-year-old was slurring his words so badly. The officer said when he took Ocasio's arm, Ocasio tried to pull away and pushed another officer.
The court documents show Ocasio also refused to answer questions in the booking area at the police station.
Police prosecutors sought $500 cash/surety bail for Ocasio, but when Judge Gregory Michael learned he has no criminal record, Michael set bail at $1,000 personal recognizance.
Trial was set for April 2.
