CONCORD - Mario Piscatella has been named communications and policy director for the House.

"I'm excited to be a part of Speaker (Terie) Norelli's team, working to improve transparency, empower citizens and deliver lasting prosperity to all corners of the state," he said in a statement.

Piscatella has a bachelor's degree in political science from San Diego State University.

He has worked in campaign management, communications consulting and training, speech writing, event planning and field organizing in a number of states.

Piscatella served presidential candidate Chris Dodd’s 2008 western Iowa regional director and worked as a consultant to Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan last year.
The House has been without a communications person since Terie Norelli became House speaker.
