Legislature cancels session due to storm

February 26. 2013 7:01PM

CONCORD -- New Hampshire House Speaker Terrie Norelli, D-Portsmouth, has canceled the House session scheduled for today because of the approaching winter storm.

The House was due to meet in session to consider a long list of bills, including some that needed action by Thursday because they involve raising and spending money and must be referred to the Finance or Ways and Means committees.

A spokesman for Norelli said the speaker has communicated with Republican leaders about suspending House rules to allow a delay in referring those measures. A two-thirds vote of the full House is required to waive the deadline.

Business scheduled for today's session will be considered at the next regularly scheduled session Wednesday Mar. 7.

The Senate is in recess for the February school vacation week and was not scheduled to meet today. It will also reconvene next week.
