Manchester man accused of punching woman over Internet chats

MANCHESTER - Police arrested a city man Wednesday night on charges accusing him of punching a woman several times in the head and face after she accused him of talking to other women on the Internet.

The incident began about 6:20 p.m. when police received a call about a domestic disturbance at 416 Maple St. A man answered the door when officers arrived, and he told them the man they wanted had just run out the rear apartment door.

In the meantime, officers talked with Kelly Maclellan, 43, who told them she had been arguing most of the day with her boyfriend, Keith Lewis. At one point, police said she accused him of talking with other women on the Internet, and Lewis punched her in the right side of the head with a closed fist, knocking her to the ground,  then struck her about the head and face while she was on the ground.  Lewis then allegedly pulled a phone jack from the wall so Maclellan could not call police.
Officers quickly located Lewis in a yard just south of the apartment building and ordered him to stop. Instead, police said he took off running, but they caught up to him as he ran between houses and crossed Merrimack Street.

At that point, police said Lewis surrendered and they arrested him for simple assault, resisting arrest and obstructing the report of a crime.
Lewis was arraigned in 9th Circuit Court, Manchester District Division, Thursday morning, and bail was set at $2,500 cash/surety, with conditions barring contact with Maclellan.  Trial was set for April 3.
