College Sports Roundup: Dartmouth drops opener to Harvard

The Dartmouth women's hockey dropped Game 1 of its ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals series against Harvard, 3-0, on Friday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass.

Lindsay Holdcroft made 39 saves in a losing effort for the Big Green, while Emerance Maschmeyer turned aside all 21 shots she faced to pick up her fourth shutout of the year.

Game 2 of the best-of-three is today at the Bright Hockey Center at 2 p.m.



Men's Hockey



Dartmouth 2, Princeton 2: Sophomore Jesse Beamish scored with 3:37 left in regulation to help No. 18 Dartmouth earn a point and secure home ice for at least the first round of the ECAC Hockey postseason tournament.

Beamish's fifth goal of the season was the culmination of a fevered comeback bid by the Big Green (13-10-5, 9-8-4 ECAC) in the final frame.



Women's Basketball



Ithaca 56, Colby-Sawyer 43: The Chargers were bounced from the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament on Friday at South Portland, Maine.

The Chargers received a team best 12 points from senior Sammi Lehr on 6-for-8 shooting. Senior Cailin Bullett was the only other Charger to reach double-figures with 10 points.

Penn 55, Dartmouth 45: Nicola Zimmer led the way for Dartmouth (6-18, 4-6 Ivy League) with 16 points while Lakin Roland added 10 points. Abbey Schmitt posted a team-best 10 rebounds while Tia Dawson had a game-high four blocks.

UNH: Today's game against Maine has been moved to Maine's Memorial Gym with a start time of 2 p.m.



Men's Basketball



Dartmouth 69, Penn 64: Freshmen Alex Mitola and Connor Boehm scored 17 and 15 points, respectively, to lead Dartmouth at the Palestra against Penn on Friday night, just the sixth win for the Big Green at the venue since the Ivy League started play in the 1955-56 season.



Baseball



Wilmington 10-5, Franklin Pierce 8-4: Senior right fielder Nick LaCroix went 4-for-9 with three extra-base hits and drove in six runs in Friday afternoon's doubleheader, but Franklin Pierce team dropped a pair of non-conference games.

St. Joseph's 2, Keene State 1: Nick Vita of Spofford had three of the Owls' seven hits in the season opener at Patchogue, N.Y.
