NHIAA Hockey Tournament Roundup: Late goal lifts St. Thomas past Trinity

T.J. Boulanger scored with 1:08 remaining in the third period to push No. 4 St. Thomas of Dover past No. 5 Trinity of Manchester by a 2-1 score in NHIAA Division I boys' ice hockey quarterfinal play at Dover Ice Arena on Saturday.

Glenn Wiswell staked St. Thomas (13-5-1) to a 1-0 lead after two periods of play, but Trinity (11-6-2) got an early third period goal from Kyle Valliere to tie the game.

Ryan Slatky made 28 saves for Trinity. Zane Angelopoulos stopped 20 in the win for STA.

Central 4, Pinkerton 2: Senior center Austin Sprague scored twice and the Little Green (15-4-0) overcame seven penalties to reach the Division I semifinals.

Cole Anderson and Tyler Stratton also scored for second-seeded Central, which led 1-0 after one period and 2-0 entering the third. Seventh-seeded Pinkerton (11-9-0) received goals from Ethan Landry and Dom Corsetto.

Division II

Bedford 3, Kingswood 2: No. 3 Bedford scored with 25 seconds remaining to break a 2-2 tie and skate away with the win in Division II quarterfinal action. Chris O'Hara netted the goal off a feed from Curt Mitchell and Mike Dee.

"The third period was a little crazy," Bedford coach Marty Myers said. "We told the kids with under a minute left, let's get one good offensive rush and they did. We capitalized on that brief period of time."

No. 6 Kingswood (11-8-0) had tied the game with just 52 seconds remaining. Bedford goalie Stephen Tempesta got the win in net to help Bedford improve to 13-3-2.

Chris Pollini staked Kingswood to a 1-0 lead in the first. Mitchell and O'Hara scored in the second for Bedford.

Bow 4, Dover 2: Chris Fournier scored a hat trick to lead the way for No. 4 Bow over fifth-ranked Dover Saturday. Jake Rand added an empty-net goal in the final seconds to cap the game for Bow (12-3-4). Dover (11-7-1) got goals from Joe Johnston and Ben Henderson and the game was tied 2-2 after two frames.

Division III

Kennett 5, Belmont-Gilford 2: Nick Ansalvi and Anthony LaRusso each scored twice to help fifth-seeded Kennett extend its season. Calvin Davis made 25 saves for fourth-seeded Belmont-Gilford (12-7-0). Kennett (11-8-0) will meet top-seeded Berlin in Wednesday's semifinals.
