Manchester home investigation yields marijuana growing charges

MANCHESTER - A couple accused of growing marijuana in their home at 274 McGregor St., were arraigned Tuesday in Circuit Court, Manchester District Division on felony charges of possession with intent to distribute.

Peter Lamarine, 44, and his wife, Michelle Lamarine, 42, are each free on $5,000 cash bail. They are scheduled for probable cause hearings March 27 in Circuit Court.

Court documents show police went to the residence Feb. 14 and Michelle allowed the officers in after conferring with her husband by phone. Officers said they smelled marijuana while on the first floor and when they went upstairs, they found equipment consistent with a growing operation and loose marijuana.

At that point, according to the documents, Lamarine asked them to leave and they did, securing the area and returning later in the day with a search warrant. That visit yielded 17 items, including four clear plastic bags containing one pound of marijuana each, one of the bags found on the floor of the master bedroom.

Officers reported finding additional marijuana in various containers, packaging materials and a large digital scale.

Michelle Lamarine's prior record consists of a shoplifting conviction. Peter Lamarine's record includes shoplifting, assault, criminal threatening, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled drug and criminal contempt.

Couldn't get a license

Brandon Davis, 27, Tuesday told Circuit Court, Manchester District Division Judge Gregory Michael that he was 16 or 17 when he accumulated traffic ticket bills now totaling $1,042.08.

Davis, then of 477 Dubuque St., said he "got in a little bit of trouble" as a teen in Manchester before his family moved to California.

"It didn't affect me," he said, until he tried to get a driver's license. Now he wants to take care of the fees, he told Michael.

The trouble to which Davis alluded includes a felony second degree assault charge and a misdemeanor of criminal threatening stemming from an incident July 24, 2002. Those charges allege he threatened his then-girlfriend and put his hands around her neck, beginning to strangle her and causing her to lose consciousness briefly.

He failed to appear in court on those charges and another misdemeanor of second offense, operating after suspension July 20, 2002.

An April 10 date was set in Circuit Court on the misdemeanors and Michael set bail at $2,000 personal recognizance.

Davis said he has the funds for the tickets, but does not yet know what his bail will be on the felony charge in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.

Michael ordered Davis to pay the ticket fines by Friday, unless he is being held on bail from Superior Court.

Complains about calls

Robert Jon Johnson, 54, of 244 Dubuque St., who is accused of violating a domestic violence protective order, Tuesday told Circuit Court, Manchester District Division Judge Gregory Michael that he was living in the same neighborhood as the woman. "Every time she sees me on the street, she calls police," said Johnson.

But Michael said the complaint alleges Johnson went to the woman's residence and knocked on the door.

A police prosecutor requested $3,000 cash/surety bail, saying Johnson has previous convictions for assault, criminal threatening and criminal trespass, all involving the same victim.

Johnson told Michael he just moved and is meeting the requirements of community connections court. "I come here every week and sign in," he said.

Michael told him he needs to do more than that, he needs to honor the protective order restrictions and the bail restrictions on a criminal charge that bar contact with his ex-girlfriend. Michael set bail at $1,000 cash/surety and Johnson has a court date of April 4.

No plea on charge

Dawn Louise Lanctot, 33, of 327 Amory St., could enter no plea Tuesday in Circuit Court, Manchester District Division to a felony second degree assault charge that alleges she punched a woman on the face and back, slammed the woman's head against a countertop and threw a plate at the woman's head, causing a concussion and cuts to the lip that required stitches.

Court documents show the alleged victim, who is the girlfriend of Lanctot's boyfriend's father, told police Lanctot attacked her after he accused her of cheating on her boyfriend and said Lanctot was not setting a good example for her son.

Lanctot is free on $5,000 cash/surety bail with a probable cause hearing set for March 14.
