Man arrested in armed robbery of 84-year-old
Aaron Kiniry, 26, of Unity was identified after he cashed winning lottery tickets for $20 and $5 in an area store that had been stolen in the robbery. Police arrested him on Board Street Thursday night.<br /><br />
Kiniry was arraigned on possession of heroin, armed robbery and felon in possession of a firearm in Claremont district court Friday.<br /><br />
Sullivan County Attorney Marc Hathaway said Kiniry and another man allegedly entered the Elm Street man's home with a firearm.<br /><br />“Both men handled the firearm while they searched for money and demanded money from the gentleman,” Hathaway said.<br /><br />
Hathaway said there is a connection between Kiniry and his victim, but would not say what that connection is.<br /><br />
Kiniry was ordered to have no contact with the victim. He is expected back in court March 18 for a for a probable cause hearing.<br /><br />
Hathaway said police continue to search for the three other suspects.<br /><br />
“The investigation is ongoing. I think it would be fair to say we know who the other suspects are,” Hathaway said.
