HAMPTON – Two young men are wanted in connection with a series of car break-ins in Portsmouth and Rye and a residential burglary where more than $15,000 in valuables were taken on Monday, police said.
Jacob Penney, 17, of 5 Walnut St., North Hampton, and Ryan Kelley, 18, of 340 Lafayette Road, unit 402, Hampton, are being sought by police.
Penney is wanted for burglary and receiving stolen property. Kelley will be charged with receiving stolen property, police said.
The burglary happened while the family was away on vacation, police said.
Penney was interviewed by police after they received tips that he was one of the men involved in Monday night’s burglary.
Hampton police executed search warrants at Penney’s home in North Hampton on Tuesday and Kelley’s apartment on Lafayette Road, leading to the discovery of stolen items related to a home burglary on Falcone Circle, police said.
Investigators also searched a wooded area in Hampton and a dumpster located near Kelley’s apartment on Lafayette Road and found thousands of dollars worth of stolen property taken from the Falcone Circle home and items taken from multiple car break-ins that were reported in the Seacoast area.
Police obtained arrest warrants for Penney and Kelley on felony charges, but the two have not yet been taken into custody.
The charges filed against the two men are all Class B felonies, punishable by up to 3 ½ to 7 years in state prison.
Police said they are hoping that the public can help them with information leading to the arrest of Kelley.
