CMC announces four new board members

Four new community leaders have been elected to Catholic Medical Centers Board of Directors: Rick Botnick, John G. Cronin, Maria Mongan and Father Patrick Sullivan.

Botnick is the president of E&R Laundry and Dry Cleaners and vice president of Botnick/5 Ventures Inc. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Manchester Community Resource Center and is involved with numerous fundraising events throughout the community, including, the American Heart Association, PMC (Team Emma), The Currier Gallery of Art, The CMC Gala, among others.

Cronin founded the law firm now known as Cronin Bisson & Zalinsky, P.C. He is a member of several associations, including the New Hampshire, Manchester and Massachusetts Bar Associations, the New Hampshire Association for Justice, the New Hampshire Auto Dealers Association and the Apartment Association of New Hampshire. He served as a past president and board member of the Apartment Association of New Hampshire has been an adjunct professor at Southern New Hampshire University and Franklin Pierce College.

Mongan has been employed by Verizon for many years and is currently area vice president heading their national wholesale local delivery services. A graduate of Wellesley College with a B.S. in Economics, Mongan has attended advanced management training at Duke University, Babson College and the Gallup Leadership Institute. A native of Manchester, she has served on several boards in the area.

Sullivan received his BA in sociology from St. Anselm College, and graduated from Daniel Freeman Hospital, UCLA paramedic school in Los Angeles, California, where he worked as a paramedic in Los Angeles and San Diego California before entering the religious life at St. Anselm Abbey in 1981. Father Patrick has professed both simple and solemn vows as a Benedictine monk. He pursued theological studies at St. John's Seminary, Boston MA and graduated in 1987 with Masters of Divinity degree. That same year, he was ordained to the priesthood and furthered his studies at Manchester Technical College, where he graduated an associate's degree in nursing. He currently works as an RN at St. Anselm Abbey and College.

FPU awards four honorary degrees

RINDGE - Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of Stonyfield Yogurt; Meg Cadoux Hirshberg, nonfiction writer; Penny Pitou, the first American to win an Olympic medal in downhill skiing; and Lloyd Astmann, outgoing chairman of the board of trustees of Franklin Pierce University are each scheduled to receive a Doctor of Humane Letters from Franklin Pierce University this May.

Hirshberg is chairman and co-founder of Stonyfield Farm in Londonderry. Hirshberg grew the company from a seven-cow operation in 1983 to a world-renowned company generating $370 million in annual sales. He is the author of "Stirring it Up: How to Make Money and Change the World," a book about how a business can make an environmental commitment that not only promotes a healthier planet but also produces a healthy company.

Cadoux Hirshberg is a highly regarded speaker and writer who recently authored "For Better or for Work: A Survival Guide for Entrepreneurs and Their Families," a well-received book offering strategies and insight into building a business and a family simultaneously and the consequent impact on both the business and relationships. Cadoux Hirshberg worked in the Stonyfield Farm business for several years in sales and yogurt production prior to embarking on her writing career. She currently writes an Inc. magazine column called "Balancing Acts" that explores work-life balance in an entrepreneurial setting.

In 2010, Astmann, a successful entrepreneur, became Franklin Pierce University's first alumni to serve as chairman of its board of trustees, on which he continues to serve. A member of the Class of 1969, Astmann is currently a managing partner of NHA Realty, LLC, a New Jersey-based commercial real estate holding company. Previously, Astmann founded and served as the president of The Jilson Group, Inc., a conglomerate of companies that imported industrial hardware and distributed those products throughout North America.

Whitney joins Centrix Bank in Bedford

BEDFORD - Matt Whitney will fill the role of vice president, commercial loan officer, at Centrix Bank's corporate office in Bedford.

Whitney brings eight years of experience in the banking industry with knowledge in loan portfolio management, commercial lending, customer relationship management and credit analysis. Prior to joining Centrix Bank, Whitney was vice president, commercial loan officer with TD Bank in Manchester. He held other positions during his tenure there, including commercial credit analyst and information specialist.

Whitney served on the Board of Directors for the Manchester Young Professionals Network where he also co-chaired The NH Start-Up Challenge. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

Taloricco gets new role at Roedel

WILTON - New Hampshire based hotel owner/operators Roedel Companies has named Fran Taloricco as business development director. In his new role, Taloricco oversees Roedel Companies' business development initiatives in the areas of new construction, comprehensive renovations and real estate acquisition opportunities. In addition, Taloricco manages client engagement and the estimating process for all construction bidding and proposals.

Taloricco brings more than 20 years of experience in hotel real estate, branding, construction and renovation to Roedel Companies. His extensive knowledge also includes hotel finance, valuation, staff recruitment, franchising and sales management.

Most recently, Taloricco served as regional vice president of franchise sales and development for Choice Hotels International, Inc. During a 15-year period, he was instrumental in Choice Hotels' Northeast and Mid-Atlantic expansion as they went from 3,000 to 6,000 locations.

Woods earns Granite State Fellow Award

NASHUA - Dr. Jessica Woods, AuD, CCC-A of Dr. Woods Hearing Center has been awarded the Granite State Fellow Award by LIONS Sight and Hearing of New Hampshire Inc. in recognition of her service to New Hampshire citizens through her commitment to auditory healthcare.

Since July 2011, Woods has been affiliated with the LIONS Sight and Hearing of New Hampshire Inc., a community program that provides hearing aids and eye surgeries for New Hampshire residents who cannot afford treatment

"What an honor to be presented with this award and to serve the community alongside LIONS Sight and Hearing of New Hampshire," said Woods.
